My Story

From the informal settlements of Nyalenda to international scholarship offers and now 2nd Year Bachelor Degree In Computer Science.

I was raised in the informal settlement of Nyalenda in Kisumu County, Kenya. My parents worked hard but struggled to make ends meet .My father as a casual laborer and my mother living with chronic arthritis which forced her to leave her hawking job. From a young age I promised to change our family's narrative.

"I am not asking for education just for myself. I am asking on behalf of every child in the slums who was told that studying abroad is only for the rich. I want to break that stereotype."

I want to use that opportunity not just for personal success but to uplift others through technology, sustainability and inclusive innovation.

My life is already a testimony to what is possible when someone refuses to give up. With your support, I know I can build a future that not only changes my life but also changes my entire community.

A timeline of challenges overcome and milestones achieved

2009-2019

Early Years — Central Primary School

Attended from baby class to Class 8, consistently ranking among the top 3 students. In my final KCPE exams, I was the best boy in my school and among the top 10 candidates overall out of 158 students, with an A in Mathematics.

2019

The Sacrifice — Giving Up My Spot

Despite being selected to join St. Anthony's National School in Kitale, I was unable to enroll due to financial constraints. At just 14 years old, I made the painful decision to give up my place so that the little funds available could help my elder sister Brenda pursue her degree in Environmental Science at Pwani University with hope that once she will have graduated,she could help facilitate the family and even to an extend return me back to school and continue with my studies.

2020-2023

Second Chance — Kisumu Boys High School

Hope found me again when the Member of County Assembly (MCA) from our ward awarded me a full high school scholarship through the County Government of Kisumu Annual Scholarship. Despite continuing challenges at home, I remained among the top performers in Mathematics and was always selected to represent my school at various academic contests.

2024-After KCSE

Self-Education & Community Involvement

After high school, with my sister graduated but unemployed and our family's financial burden growing heavier, I turned to Shofco Library in our neighborhood, using their public computers to teach myself ethical hacking, artificial intelligence and web development even though I got a grade that was requireed to join campus. I joined the Google Developers Group (GDG) in Kisumu, participating in tech meetups and events.

2025 -University

Joined Rongo University For Bachelor Degree In Computer Science.

Joined for my 1st year in 2024 september intake and through with my 1st year on April.Soo I am to resume with my second year but the challenge comes in.I got a sister (3rd born) who has joined Kisii for Medicine after also being fully funded by the county goverment of Kisumu,then the 4th born brother also in High school with expected fee of 57,000 still with 66,000 fee balance since he wasnt sponsored.The fifth born is also in junior secondary school and the last born who is one year old is also here with no funds to cater for all these.Soo continuing with the degree is also a challenge and to an extent of being forced to defer hoping to one day get a chance to resume.
